Monte launched Product Development Services (PDS), primarily as an engineering company. Due to his ongoing business relationships and client connections, PDS already had an established niche in the aviation industry, and Weber Aircraft became their first major client.
Due to foreseeable company growth, PDS became incorporated, and Monte became business partners with Darren Squires, an industrial engineer.
PDS expanded into its first brick and mortar facility in Addison, Texas. They began offering industrial design services and working for the first time on medical-related product development.
The impact of 9/11 was felt by PDS’s largest client, Weber Aircraft, who in turn cancelled aircraft seat orders placed with PDS. Fortunately, PDS already had begun diversifying into telecom and was not affected by the loss.
PDS Development was re-branded and re-launched as Point Innovation. In addition, they returned to an aerospace focus and resumed working on airline seat design for Weber.
Point Innovation received this award for the Renewal Laptop, a product with a unique approach to the life cycle, the usability, and recycling benefits.
In 2004 we began developing industrial products.
Point Innovation expanded their headquarters by moving to a new 12,000 sq. ft. facility in Lewisville, Texas. The new building provided ample space to support all of the services Point offers.
In 1995, with professional engineering experience in consumer electronics, communications, commercial aircraft seating, and an entrepreneurial spirit, Monte organized a select group of mechanical designers and developers to support manufacturers in North Texas, and Point Innovation was born. Throughout these years, his leadership and guidance over a team of more than 50 engineers and designers have cultivated the company into an award-winning design, product development, and technical resources company serving over a hundred clients nationwide.
As a child growing up in Leoti, Kansas, Kip learned design and craftsmanship from his blacksmith grandfather. Later, he fell in love with the transportation field while frequenting the family’s car dealership, and his love of flying began with flight lessons from his father at the age of 20. Both interests turned into lifelong career choices, for Kip has more than 30 years of leadership roles in both design consultancies and some of the world’s top general aviation manufacturers of business jets, such as Learjet/Bombardier and Gulfstream. He joined Point 9 years ago, and is responsible for the daily operation of the company and our innovative product development process, while overseeing department managers in engineering, design and project management.
